Communities that thrive in the new economy are those that figure out how to connect the goals of government, business, and the community and undertake creative, performance-based partnerships built on these connections. Using Oregon’s Strategic Investment Program statute, Multnomah County and the City of Gresham have developed strategic partnerships with two high-tech firms located in east Multnomah County, LSI Logic Corporation and Microchip Technology Inc. These partnerships are demonstrating that the private and public sectors can operate together to bring a wide range of benefits to the community.
